The next day, Solomon asks Death's angel why he looked at the man in such anger that he fled — and the angel answers that he wasn't angry at all, only astonished, because God had already ordered him to take that very man's soul in India that same day. This song follows that flight, from panic to the quiet, astonishing turn: you cannot outrun what is already written.
